The latest edition of the Cooperative Insider newsletter is now out! Featuring news on the global cooperative movement, our quarterly online magazine issue touches on cooperation among cooperatives while offering an overview of the ICA’s upcoming events.
With the global movement preparing for the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives, the newsletter also shares a story of the ICA’s new video created to raise awareness of the cooperative business model and the role of the ICA. Cooperatives are also invited to tell their stories on stories.coop, and share this platform with everyone within and outside of the cooperative network.
Over the past three months national, regional and sectoral cooperative organisations have been busy attending and hosting a range of events. The newsletter includes updates from CICOPA’s participation in a conference on worker cooperatives in Japan as well as NCBA CLUSA’s address at the 62nd Session of the Commission for Social Development. It also includes reports from the ICA-AP Women’s Committee virtual side event at the NGO CSW68 Forum and ICA Americas’ participation in the 38th FAO Regional Conference.
Preparations are also underway for the ICA Global Conference on Cooperatives due to take place in November in New Delhi, India. ICA representatives have already met with government representatives and Indian cooperators to plan the event. The newsletter details their visit.
In March cooperatives around the world celebrated International Women’s Day by hosting events and running awareness-raising campaigns. The newsletter highlights two of these initiatives, the ICA’s Gender Equality Committee’s statement published on 8 March and ICA-AO’s International Forum on Youth, Women, and Cooperatives.
